An experienced and dedicated servant leader, Devon Graham is Vice President of Human Resources at Axis for Autism. His background spans the full spectrum of HR functions, from payroll and benefits management to talent acquisition, performance management, compensation and career-banding. Devon has cultivated this expertise over a three-and-a-half-decade career in diverse industries including property management, real estate, hospitality, nonprofit and healthcare.
What sets Devon apart is his view of HR as a customer service center. As he serves his internal “customers,” he ensures the Axis for Autism staff have the tools and resources they need to do their jobs well. He firmly believes in fostering a culture where individuals are not seen as employees, but as valued members of the team.
His HR career began in high school with an internship at the Eastman Kodak Company, where he quickly demonstrated a natural aptitude for working with people. His talents prompted Kodak to hire him as a permanent intern throughout high school and college and portended a long and successful HR career.
Indeed, Devon has garnered numerous accolades over the years. Of the awards he has received, he is most proud of being named “Team Member of the Year” multiple times by Alliance Residential Company and “Top New Hire Performer of the Year” by Carefree Communities, as this recognition validated his efforts to serve and strengthen his team.
Devon also has been active in his professional community. To boost his skills as an HR professional, he was a longtime member of the American Payroll Association and actively participated in both the national and Greater Phoenix chapters of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). Over the years, Devon discovered a passion for nurturing the next generation of HR talent as he served on SHRM’s Mentorship Committee.
His dedication to his work is evident at Axis for Autism as he builds the company’s HR department. Here, he ensures all team members have the support they need to fulfill on the company’s vision and improve access to high-quality autism evaluations and therapy for Arizona children and adults.
Devon attended Purdue University’s Krannert School of Business, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in management and a minor in organizational communication and structure. Beyond his professional endeavors, he is a fervent supporter of local animal shelters, including Lost Our Homes pet rescue. In his spare time, he and his husband enjoy outdoor adventures, trips to Disneyland and the performing arts scene in Tucson. They also love spending time with their beloved Labrador retrievers, Dexter and Lycos.
